We’ve seen some great cars for sale lately, but this must be one of the best: a magnificent and unmodified 1980 930. This Tobacco Metallic beauty is being sold by Jeff, a fellow Pelican who knows what a good 911 looks like, as he has owned his fair share over the years.
The car is an original European model, unhindered by US smog equipment. The tan leather Recaro sports trim is spotless, as it should be for a 46K mile motor car. It is unmessed with and lovely throughout. I was just saying to Jeff that I would probably be all over it if I didn’t have too many cars already.

Things on the car sales front are slow in places in the US, and for sure there are some sales being forced as a result of hard times. But not everyone is feeling the pain. There are more than a few buyers ready to spend some dough on a minter that they can pull out at weekends, to get them into their local PCA chapter and (hopefully) to mix with a slightly higher level of conversation than one might find at a local bowling alley or whatever. I am not imagining this raison d’acheter by the way – these are the sorts of emails I get from people.
Jeff is asking for bids of low to mid 30s for the car and I can’t see he’ll have much trouble getting it – 32k USD works out to just over 22k Euros, which is great value for money. It is just coming up to 30 years old too, so would come into much of Europe at reduced VAT rates sometime in 2010. Gotta watch out for these things.
You can read Jeff’s excellent Pelican thread here and PM him through the board.

Just found out a friend of mine in Europe now owns the car. Pretty cool stuff!
