Took a trip to see my buddy Dom Delaney at Worcester Independent Porsche today. Dom is a great guy with a lot of history on all sorts of Porsches, and always great to chat with. He has decided to take on my 1986 944 Turbo project, so I had a truckload of bits to drop off, and have another to drop off tomorrow.
In between cups of tea and stories from his old Ralliart days and a recent trip to Finland to work with Kimi Raikkonen on his WRC project, Dom showed me his latest acquisition: a 1982 924 Turbo in Monaco Blue: a sweet solid colour I have never seen before. Really suits this almost mint little Turbo, especially with the wild and wonderful Pascha interior trim.
Dom’s just brought this beauty into stock from the owner of 25 years, who had kept it in his garage almost unmoved for the last 15 years or so. It’s a real time warp barn find and in lovely condition. Smells like a proper old Porsche too: a blast of un-smoked-in classic Porsche trim is a rare thing these days. Only a few shallow dents on the non-sunroof roof affect its otherwise stellar condition.
It’s hitting the market soon; if you fancy the look of it, give Dom a call on 07832 129589. If the timing was better, I’d have bought it myself.
I’ve put some more pics of the car up on Flickr: my Flickr Porsche photo pages.
