About Me

April 24, 2010

I have a twenty-five year history in the motor trade, recently spending ten years as Older Car Values Editor for Glass’s Guide, so I am a used car buying/selling and valuation expert, sometimes employed as an expert legal witness.

Though my company, Mighty Motor Media, I work as an online automotive publicist, blogger and Internet marketing activist. Web skills, creative writing and photography dovetail within this arena. Clients include MSN Cars, Autocar magazine, Auto Retail Manager magazine and all the Porsche magazines.

In the commercial Porsche World, I have a share in  TwinSpark Racing, a Dutch company specialising in high-end Porsche parts for road and racing Porsche 911s. I look after online social media and marketing for TwinSpark Racing, Racing Restorations, Tuthill Porsche, Specialist Vehicle Preparations and the mighty Race4Change.

I can be hired for any type of project and most of my work can be syndicated/licensed. Email me to discuss.

I’m happy to talk to prospective clients from anywhere in the world. You can call me on +44 (0) 77911 19151 or email me at john@johndglynn.com. I am happy working on content in any subject area: intelligence and flexibility are a given.

Background:

I moved from Ireland to the UK in 1989, with dreams of becoming a motoring journalist. Sidetracked into commercial contract management on big airport operations (£13M turnover), I shelved the writing for a few years.

I had dreamed about owning a Porsche for a while, when the premature demise of my brother-in-law provided the push I needed to get on with it. I quickly found myself a 1983 SC Cabriolet in the South of France. Flying to Perpignan with my little brother to collect it was one of the happiest weekends of my life.

I started writing about the SC Cabriolet, and began to pick up magazine commissions here and there. All the time working in the motor trade for Glass’s Guide, my writing was eventually popular enough to support a move to full time. So I packed in the 9-5 and went out on my own as a freelance journalist, blogger and publicist in June 2010.

I’ve so far been published in MSN Cars, Autocar, Classic Cars, Edmund’s Inside Line, Motor Trend Classic, 911 & Porsche World, Retro Cars, RS Magazine and Total 911, as well as my regular monthly column in Auto Retail Manager. I have also just begun to create writing & photography for some new Porsche projects: more of that later.

In 2009, I began studying photography at Warwick College of Art. I am now in my third year, on a level 3 City and Guilds course that runs until June 2012.
