Bye Bye Little Land Cruiser

by John on January 4, 2010

My reassembled Toyota LJ70 Land Cruiser left the building today. I was sad to see it go, but pleased that it is at least off to do something interesting with the new owner, not just some dreary school run or soggy dog transport!

I think I undersold it as I had not mentioned spare keys, alarm remotes, the full history or even put nice clean pictures of it up on eBay. Still it fetched what I thought it would fetch: £2500, which is about what it owed me after 4 years together.

But there’s no rest for the wicked! We have plenty more to keep us busy, including 2 911s to get sorted and probably sell, a 944 to rebuild and probably sell, and some more jobs to do on the big Landcruiser to really finish it: new rear shocks, electric aerial, spotlamp fit, that sort of thing. It needs an MOT now too (not selling that though). I have agreed with myself that there will be no more cars until we have a concrete garage floor laid, and even then I hope to stay on the wagon a while longer.

Also left to play with is Lindy, our 6.2 V8 diesel motorhome. Lindy needs an MOT and some general fettling before it gets advertised for sale in the Spring. I’m hoping it will make about £8,000, which it should do as a 6-berth diesel Chevy that can legally haul over 4 tons. Motorhomes in the UK sell fairly well and this one is perfect for a race team. I’ll buy another RV in time, but for now we are reaching for different life goals.

Here’s a little bit of video of Lindy in action. This is the day I went to see her and agreed a deal with Doug, the previous owner who had brought Lindy in from Seattle. This was a very happy day!

I would just keep an eye on UK eBay – they are being parted out on there regularly. Cheers, John
