Sorry, going to get gratuitous for a second, as my middle darling is 7 today. ‘Your darling’ is an expression Ciara has always used in place of ‘your child’, which makes for some amusing conversations with people she has never met before.
On my 7th birthday, I was exactly one week away from finally having my one and only brother. Ciara came along one day short of the first anniversary of our losing a little one 4 months into pregnancy, and two days before my 34th birthday, so she has a ‘rewarding’ ring to her persona – quite a special little aura about her in her (very proud) dad’s eyes. I hope 7 is as good an age for her as it was for me.
Anyway, say hello to all your darlings from us today, whatever age they are. Remember that, regardless of economic ups and downs (and whether you have kids or not), life can be pretty good – enjoy it!
