New Porsche 911 991 Pictures

by John on July 26, 2011

Working like a madman at the minute to hit an end-of-year photo college deadline, but got time to quickly blog these pics.

One of the most eagerly anticipated Porsche cars in recent years will be unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show: the new 911, or 991. Autocar reckon they have scooped pics of the finished product.

Obviously this is not the finished product. The front and back look like a car crash: it’s impressive how those vinyl graphics on the rear really con the eye. You can see the wheelbase and overhang differences though, the window shapes and door mirror placements are also new. The whole thing looks lower in this angle, and the simple wheels look ace.

We also get a fair idea of the arch shape and the rear underside. Looks good. The facelift parts boys should do well on 997 upgrades when this comes out.

Yellow is always striking on a 911, but I’m loking forward to seeing the new colours Porsche add to the mix. Cayman R Green/Aubergine/soft brown metallic? What about a new Royal Purple? Loving my new purple M3. What new colours would you like to see?

I haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere, so am I the only one seeing a whaletail ready to be raised out of the bodywork? It sure has the shape and those slats on the grille remind me of those on a whaletail and teatray spoiler too…

Don’t you think the rear looks heavy?

I think all the watercoolers look a little rear biased, but that high rear three-quarter has never been a 911′s strongest viewing angle. Wait until you see it in the metal, then decide. Early cars are prettier for sure, but later ones are still fun to drive.
