So I’m coming up on forty now and how does it feel? Like any other age I suppose, with the exception that my birthday sounds like a bloody big number for the first time.
Taking stock is what they say fortieth birthdays are all about, and for most men with a brain made for filing trivia, that means stock take – how many toys in the shed? I have a few bits and pieces, and this blog is sort of about following their progress on one site, rather than in four or five disparate locations, but taking stock to me is not about a list of contents.
Who am I, what am I? I think most of us have been asking this question all our lives, hence the blog title. But they are good questions and its never to late to ask who am I, what am I? What am I to myself: friend or foe? We push and push to get stuff done, and make choices that deny us certain other opportunities. Are our choices good ones? I have been asking these questions a little more searchingly as the big four-oh approaches - give it a go yourself.
This is all a bit heavy for a first blog post, so I will just say that the site is about collating my so-called work and spare time fun into something that might be enjoyable for a few other people. If you like an old Porsche, or maybe a scrappy old Ducati, or an old motorhome, then you should find a few bits to keep you busy in here as the months and years pile up.
I will also publish my own writing here, and some pics and bits from other people: the kids maybe or other Porsche buddies etc. All good stuff and maybe it can help me get involved in other writing projects outside the obvious motoring ones.
