I own a 1998 Carrera 3.2. I am on the original motor and the case has never been split. 280k miles later..it still runs like new with only oil changes. I drive it every day so it should be pushing 300k shortly. G50 3.2 is a dream to drive and it's a true classic!

Yeah, ok, you talked me into looking at SC's (I'd been thinking a G50 3.2 would be my bag...).

This is a great article. I just bought my first Porsche. An 87 911 3.2 Euro spec cab. Admittedly, I'm a little freaked out about the potential maintenance, but I had the car thoroughly checked by our local 911 guru and it would appear that all systems are go.

It'll be ready for pick up in about a week. I can't sleep. I've been thinking about this car for 20 years.

Thanks again for the article. Greatly appreciated.

Great article John, probably the best ever for prospective buyers to read who are really interested in the technical side of things regarding the engine.

Hello
I have just come across your article on the internet and i really enjoyed reading it. I have a 1981 911 SC into which I am thinking of fitting a 3.6 engine and giving it a 1973 RS look with carbon fibre body panels. I agree with you that putting the car on a diet works wonders for performance. If I need advice for my project or answers to some questions, are there Porsche fans out there who would be willing to help me out?
