Porsche have released some video, shot behind the scenes at the filming of a new Panamera commercial.
The film is short but exceptionally sweet. It features some of our favourite air-cooled heroes, seen in that slightly off-kilter scenario that drives home their inherent attraction. Against an almost featureless backdrop, all that exists is the machine. Pedigree is never more obvious than in these moments.
Witness the 917 pulling up alongside the RSR, or the green of the 911 Carrera RS versus the Sunoco colours or the Riviera Blue 993, all in sharp contrast to the matt black whirlybird and Cayenne camera car.
Everything about the proper Porsches seen here is top-drawer COOL: each is divine. Watching them roll out of trucks, to park up together thousands of miles away is so exciting I could scream: “where was I while all this was going on?” The answer: stuck in front of a laptop in rainy old England.
To cap it all, fellow Pelican Justin has posted this excellent picture, taken by a friend of his who was on site. The pic shows the chopper circling above a swirling mass of classic Porsche metal. Just look at what is up front! The helicopter is a 1983 Aérospatiale Ecureuil (Squirrel), so also from my favourite era of mechanical design. Still looks great today!
