Dropped into Silverstone today en route home from seeing a subscriber in Brackley. Melindi Scott at Goldtrack had a trackday going on: Open Pit Lane (OPL) on the GP circuit, running out of Stowe. OPL on the GP is always a guarantee of proper race machinery. There was no disappointment: the sun shone and the big boys came out to play.
Paragon were there with their impressive setup: huge race truck and additional van with trailer. They brought some great cars including the FAT 962, a 993 GT2 and a sublime 996 GT3 RSR in Orange.
My buddy John was harboured alongside Paragon with his RSR-kitted 996 GT3, which he had just fitted with a paddle gear shift. The trickiest part of the factory conversion was apparently fitting the throttle blipper – something I hadn’t even thought of. I had just dropped in to see the paddles and a man about a dog, so didn’t have a great deal of time to spare. No rides today then.
Tucked away down in the far corner was an unassuming van and trailer, out from which emerged a certain orange car dating back to 1989: the Jagermeister 962C. Fresh from a lengthy restoration/recommissioning, the car looked utterly incredible in the wonderful Silverstone sunshine, and sounded wonderful on the run down Hangar into Stowe. Shame you missed it!
