I’m following an interesting story on Twitter at the minute.
Much-loved journo and classic Porsche enthusiast/owner Richard Meaden (@dickiemeaden) has taken a 911 GT3 down to Spa for the Goldtrack track days, to hook up with a beautiful white 908. Conditions are perfect for fast laps in the classic Porsche race car, but the old girl has failed the noise test: 115dB at 3,000 rpm!
We had a lucky break on our Spa day a few weeks ago when, at the start of the morning, the noise tester was in hospital so couldn’t check us all out. We got a morning’s running in before he finally did arrive in the afternoon, and passed all our cars anyway.
Sitting in Leonard Stolk’s yellow 3.0 RSR, about to attack a 997 GT3 for ten laps, the sound man’s meter hovered on 107dB (the static limit) but most importantly never broke it. We were allowed out and baby, was it ever worth it.
I hope Dickie finds a solution to his problem, especially if a feature hangs on it. If not, there’s always a blue GT3 needs driving. Fingers crossed…
You can see more pics on Richard’s Twitpic feed. They’re worth looking at.
