The 912 Overture

by John on December 27, 2009

California Porsche guy Pete von Behrens has just released amazing pictures of his WEVO-built 912, known as PVX. I was lucky enough to meet PVX in the metal on our last visit to San Francisco.

Somewhere along the line, WEVO have discovered the secret of selective molecular atomisation, as every nanogram of 912ness has been obliterated from the finished product. All that remains as identifiable 912 influence is the chassis number.

As this is a street car built for competition, nothing that could compromise ability has been left on the table. Outstanding commitment to ultimate performance is the WEVO way, making them the perfect partner on this landmark build.

I’ve got nothing against 912s but, if this project was plastic surgery, it would be a combined brain, blood, nerve and bone marrow transplant on a lethargic octogenarian, resulting in a kick-boxing Penelope Cruz. Some headline specification: 2006 911 GT3 Cup engine developing 425bhp. Custom 6-speed G50 transmission with Guard LSD. Lightweight shell with full cage and optimum torsional rigidity. Modified wheelbase and engine and gearbox moved forward to redistribute weight. Carbon fibre skin. Porsche ceramic brakes.

I’ve seen some awesome cars in my Porsche writing career to date, but no street car compares to this performance thoroughbred.  PVX has been taken to the nth degree of pure performance, with every component carefully considered and perfectly positioned, to ensure maximum efficiency.

With PVX, Pete and WEVO haven’t just shifted the goalposts, they have strolled casually onto the playing field, enthusiastically eradicated said posts with nitrous oxide-powered chainsaws and planted carbon fibre working art in their place. Pete’s amazing machine is an awesome way to round off 2009 – I can’t wait to try it in 2010.

Here’s a little bit of taster video. You can see more pics of this wicked Porsche here, on Pelican Parts.
