The Gig is Up

by Hayden on November 9, 2009

Well it’s now just over 7 weeks since we last saw Mexicar and it seems we will not be reunited today either.

Through a sequence of oversights and more than our share of bad luck, the car was not delivered to Europe in time for the start of the Rally. Nor for either our Plan “B” or even our Plan “C”, both last chance strategies devised to try and join the Rally and enjoy the driving opportunity. We did meet some of the Rally participants on Friday and Saturday, they seemed like a great crowd. It would have been interesting to share the experience with them.

A huge word of thanks has to go to Arjen, Leonard and Dominique in Holland, who helped to entertain us and try and solve the problems created elsewhere, both before our arrival and once we arrived in Holland on Saturday night. It has been frustrating not to solve the problems that stood between car arrival and Rallying, a great ” we can do it” attitude prevailed right up to our bogie time at noon today, after which it was known to be futile.

Steven and I have headed different directions on different objectives and his parting words were “don’t worry, we will do this yet and we will do it even better”, so listen for Jungle drums to share news of whatever comes next.

Final and out.
